Continuing with the Series on Ephesians this post will be speaking about Ephesians 3. To be quite honest with you this post will not be that long, the reasoning behind it is because 1. There was not that much that I took notes on and 2. Because there is one phrase that makes me just want to stop and praise God for.
Lets dig in!
As we read through Ephesians 3, I want to jump to the last third of the chapter. I am not saying that the beginning is not important by any means but the last third is where I took the most notes and where I was taken back by what it said.
Starting at verse 14, we read:
For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom his whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you being rooted and established in love may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge – that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
When I read this the first time through there was one specific group of words that stuck out to me and that I felt God saying to me and I also couldn’t help but think of a song. The song I that came to mind when reading this is entitled “Jesus Lord of Heaven” by Phil Wickham. The group of words God placed on my heart is just three simple words made into a phrase of truth; Love surpasses knowledge. At first I didn’t really know why this was placed on my heart but after reading over it again and again I began to see that if you have all the knowledge in the world but don’t have love then everything will fall apart. See the word stands true in that, love surpasses knowledge. If you love then all the knowledge you have will be useful and instead of falling apart things will be built up, if that makes sense. As I write this post I encourage you to respond with your thoughts on this passage from Ephesians.
In conclusion, I pray that you take the rest of the day to just sit and meditate on God to see how great His love really is. I pray that the knowledge you have is backed by love and that the will of God will be evident in your life. May God bless you today and the days to come.
